This Wednesday marked the ending of another season of American Idol and the start of a successful career for the lucky winner. This year it goes to David Cook, who is more than deserving of that title. I was expecting 17 year-old David Archuleta to win with his cult following of tween girls, so I was pleasatly surprised when David C. pulled out on top. In honor of the finale this blog entry is devoted to my favorite Idol contestants and performances of the season!

DAVID COOK

“Dare You to Move”- Switchfoot

“Always Be My Baby”- Mariah Carey

“I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing”- Aerosmith

AND last but not least of course is his performance of “The Time of My Life” at the Idol Finale.

I’ve been seeing advertising on MySpace over the past few months for Kate (she’s signed to the site’s new record label at Interscope Records). Last night my curiosity finally got the best of me and I decided to checkout her music, and I’m SO glad I did. She is not currently on my iPod but she soon will be! It’s refreshing to find great singer and songwriters like her in a world of cookie-cutters. She has talent that is sure to get her far, her music has already appeared on the TV series One Tree Hill. She’s only twenty-one years old, and for being so I am incredibly impressed with her song writing skills as well as her ability to play BOTH the piano and guitar. Her tunes are by no means bubblegum pop but the perfect mix of pop and rock. I’m hooked on her radio friendly songs such as “Wish You Were” and “I Get It”. If you listen to the likes of John Mayer, Anna Nalick, Michelle Branch, Vanessa Carlton or KT Tunstall you’ll love her! She is currently on tour with Natasha Bedingfield & The Veronicas as part of the Verizon VIP Tour 2008. For more about Kate and her music (including tour dates) check out her website: katevoegele.com
